Understanding & Treating Trauma Through an Adlerian Lens And Ancillary Modalities - Marc Davis, PsyD, LMFT
The full title of this workshop is Understanding Trauma Through An Adlerian Lens And Treating It In Conjunction With Adlerian And Ancillary Modalities, such as Brainspotting (BSP), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), and/or focused mindful approaches (e.g., hypnosis, mindfulness meditation).
Accordingly, the first part of the workshop will address the Adlerian understanding of trauma and its integration within the lifestyle, as well as the examination of various Adlerian trauma treatment protocols. Given recent advances in the past several decades on the treatment of trauma, further examination on ancillary and complimentary treatment approaches will also be explored, specifically: FMAs, EMDR, and BSP. The second part of the workshop will conclude with a live demonstration of at least two of the ancillary treatment modalities mentioned, using volunteer workshop participants.
- Utilize Adlerian therapeutic techniques to confront a client’s mistaken ideas and private logic, with the positive outcome of reconstructing one’s lifestyle.
- Compare various trauma treatment modalities that align with and can be used in conjunction with Adlerian treatment protocols.
- With follow-on training (as applicable), participates will be able to design additioanal interventions (in conjunction with Adlerian therapeutic techniques) that not only significantly reduce an individual’s time in therapy, but ameliorate the traumatic event(s) experienced by the client.
