Learn the basic scientific underpinnings of both biofeedback and neurofeedback including physiological states and state changes as well as electrical brain activity and possible symptom manifestation. Explore the various biofeedback and neurofeedback application approaches, uses.
This course will provide an overview of human psychophysiology and complex emotional, behavioral, and cognitive response patterns which influence and develop life style. Learn the basic concepts of biofeedback and neurofeedback and how the techniques can expand an individual’s self-awareness of their psychophysiological states and responses as well as techniques to increase self-regulation across settings. Participants can expect:
1. To learn the basic concepts of psychophysiology.
2. Learn the basic concepts and applications of biofeedback training.
3. Learn the basic concepts and application of neurofeedback assessments and training.
4. Review the options for obtaining certification in bio/neurofeedback for incorporating the training modalities into your practice.
*This course will not prepare you to provide biofeedback and/or neurofeedback training into your practice. This course will provide an underlying review of the basic concepts as well as an opportunity to gain knowledge about various ways to receive the necessary training to incorporate bio and/or neurofeedback into your practice.
About the presenter:
Cortney Amundson, M.A., LPCC, BCN is the owner of Mindful Restoration LLC. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Metropolitan State University. During her final year, she participated in a travel-study abroad program in New Zealand and Australia studying culture, tourism, outdoor recreation, leadership, and team building. She then moved to Seattle Washington to pursue her master’s degree in ecopsychology from Antioch University Seattle. Her master’s project focused on how mindful practices in nature heal the wounds of trauma, specifically surrounding war, military service, and the misplacement of people from their roots, culture, morals, and beliefs. After receiving her master’s degree, Cortney started Mindful Restoration LLC in Minnesota in 2011. She attended Adler graduate school to complete the requirements for licensure as a Professional Clinical Counselor. She pursued and received certification from the Biofeedback Certification Alliance International (BCIA) in neurofeedback. She is trained in mind-body medicine from the Center for Mind-Body medicine, is a veteran of the US Air Force, and is fluent in American Sign Language.
