Body and Movement-based Trauma Healing

Trauma significantly impacts our physical, emotional, and psychological identity as well as our interpersonal relationships. This experiential and didactic workshop will introduce somatic and body/movement-based therapy techniques for working with clients who have experienced trauma, including 1) neurological perspectives on the impact of trauma; 2) specific body and movement-based interventions for working with various types of trauma; and 3) considerations for working with groups and individuals from a multicultural perspective.

Adlerian Brief Psychotherapy for Individuals and Couples

Adlerian brief psychotherapy allows the therapist to uncover underlying mistaken beliefs and moves more rapidly than conventional counseling.  Often counseling individuals and couples to solve problems isn’t enough.  This experiential workshop will help participants identify the core mistaken beliefs that interfere with the client’s ability to solve their problems in counseling.  These beliefs often pose problems in many areas of their lives.   Methods for helping the clients to change the beliefs will also be addressed.

Introduction to Ecopsychology

This introduction to ecopsychology is meant for therapists, psychologists, social workers, students in these fields or anyone dealing with the health and well-being of clients. The goal of ecopsychology is to create healing through awe leading to unity between people and the natural world. Combining Adlerian Holism and Striving for Social Interest we will claim how cooperation creates both social interest and unity that Adler declares is mentally healthy. We will also use Adler’s treatment of holism to decide how to live in our largest system, Earth.

Creation of Life Style in Three Acts

Creation of Life Style in Three Acts is a didactic and experiential workshop based on the psychology developed by Alfred Adler. Each of the three acts represents one component of the development of life style. Act I focuses on family legacy, that is the perception and conclusions drawn about the stories or photographs or artifacts of your family that occurred before your birth. Act II focuses on family relationships, including your arrival into the family and the first five yours of your life including the perceptions, images, and relationships that you experienced. Act III focuses on the creation of life style based on specific elements of childhood and the adaptations necessary as you enter the larger world outside the home. Emphasis will be on the practical application of Adlerian psychology and the workshop will be conducted modeling empathy, encouragement, equality, and ethics in an educational setting.

Counseling Adults With ADHD

Adults with this neurological disability are disorganized, don’t manage their time well, are forgetful, often don’t complete tasks or projects, have difficulty creating routine, and have difficulty planning and solving problems. Over all they have feelings of discouragement and worthlessness. This leads to a life of overwhelming chaos and high risk for divorce, job changes, psychological problems and drug abuse. This experiential workshop will provide clinicians with strategies that help these clients improve their sense of worth, get in control of their lives and feel successful.

Understanding the Complex Levels of Generational Trauma: Healing for American Indian Individudals, Families and Communities

This presentation examines not only the effects of generational trauma but also looks at trauma created by other factors such as racism, internalized oppression, loss of cultural roots, and the family issues that resulted from these issues. We will survey the strengths that have historically existed in the nations of the original people and how to use those gifts to heal from within. This exposition will highlight some of the misconceptions that have caused great trauma, and expose truths about the healing that is taking place with each generation.
