Lisa Lounsbury, MA, LMFT, ATR

Adjunct Faculty Member

After more than 20 years’ experience as a professional artist and facilitator of group art projects, Lisa Lounsbury recognized a shift as participants spoke about their internal transformation after a self-portrait workshop she led in 2008. Lisa knew immediately that this work was the healing power of creative self-expression. Thus, began her own transformation – she went back to school in order to properly support this life-changing work. On her journey, she moved from focusing on an external product (art) to trusting the internal process (art therapy).

Lisa earned a bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, and a master’s degree from Adler Graduate School in Richfield. She is now a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Registered Art Therapist. Lisa created her private practice, Art Lab Rx in 2015, where she and Therapists on staff are committed to providing relevant art therapy sessions for a variety of clients, including recovery centers, hospitals, and faith-based organizations.

Lisa recently purchased a 45’ Coach bus and is in the process of transforming both the interior and exterior to become a mobile mental health unit bringing Art Therapy sessions directly to the doors of the communities she serves.

Lisa continues to be a sought-after speaker, an award-winning artist, and a community volunteer. She is bilingual (Spanish) and is an avid world traveler. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, ballroom & salsa dancing, and spending time with her husband and 3 children.
