The Certificate in Career Coaching/Counseling (CCCC) offers an Adlerian approach to career development designed around the 12 core competencies established by the National Career Development Association (NCDA) and the International Coach Federation (ICF). Students learn how to assist clients with:
· Understanding the process of career planning including explanation of interests/skills/values/passions/experience/goals, etc., as they relate to a career path.
· Marketing themselves effectively for new opportunities including networking, personal branding, writing an effective resume and cover letter, creating a LinkedIn profile, and interviewing effectively.
· Managing career transitions, both chosen and unchosen.
· Maximizing career fulfillment by aligning personal interests and skills with opportunities.
Adler Graduate School has aligned with the Career Mentoring Program offered by the Minnesota Career Development Association (MCDA) in order to provide CCCC students with the opportunity to be mentored by an experienced career development practitioner. Graduates of the program will have completed a professional career portfolio.
“After Intro and Lifestyle, the most Adlerian classes I have taken are the Career Development sequence. They work with the whole person to address the needs of the work task and improve the health and well-being of the individual by helping them align their occupation with their strengths and goals in a socially meaningful way.” -Aaron Pierson
“The Career Counseling program at Adler has helped me become more confident in my own career navigation as well as providing tools for me which have enabled me to help others in my role of intern at Normandale Community College while I was still in school and in my various roles at Inver Hills Community College that I've had since graduation. My instructors were top notch as well; all were incredibly kind and inspiring and their dedication to my development as a person and counselor didn't just end when the class did. If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely still choose the Career Counseling program!” -Shannon Schenck, AGS Class of 2013
