This paper explores the therapeutic framework that is created for the treatment of Adult Children of Alcoholics/Addicts (ACoAs) by combining Küaut;bler-Ross‘s stages of grief, Weigscheider-Cruz‘s five family roles, and Woititz‘s 12 common traits of ACoAs. These concepts are discussed in depth and are paired with the use of Adlerian therapeutic techniques to demonstrate how to lead ACoA clients through the therapeutic journey to improved emotional health and acceptance.
