This paper is an examination of the research regarding the effects of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder on the social skills of children and adolescents with ADHD. All of the studies conclude that individuals with ADHD undergo substantial interpersonal struggles due to social failings. The research is not comprehensive, but somewhat selective of what is being done in this field. Specifically, it details the effects of ADHD on social competency, the converging and diverging aspects of the methodology employed by the studies, and the clinical and future implications of the research being done in the field. Finally, there is an Adlerian based treatment plan for those who suffer from ADHD.
