The challenge to meet the needs of all students throughout their educational experience continues to be a prilnary task for stakeholders throughout the United States. This analysis specifically delves into the responsibility to meet the needs of students with learning disabilities as they prepare for success in postsecondary settings. Current special education regulations and evidence-based practices in the secondary setting are reviewed along with specific literature on factors that contribute to postsecondary success. Additionally, Dr. Alfred Adler's role is described in the fonnation of appropriate guidance counselor roles. Finally, recommendations for school counselors are made based on the American School Counselor Association's National Model and current research in order to better serve students with learning disabilities.
