Information Session for Prospective Students (12pm)

Join us at 12pm for an Information Session as Adler Graduate School’s admissions staff share a little more about the Master of Arts Degree in Adlerian Counseling and Psychotherapy. You will learn more about the 6 different emphasis areas Adler Graduate School has to offer and how your learning experience can be customized to best fit your needs. While you learn a little, you’re invited to take part in a light meal.

CE - Loss, Grief and Resolution: An Adlerian Approach (click here for more)

Within this didactic and experiential workshop, participants will focus on the topics of loss, grief and resolution by identifying personal losses, management of exogenous factors, identification of helpful people/contributions, personal perceptions of loss, grief and resolution and strategies to facilitate others in their process. Participants will join in lectures, small and large group discussions, illustrations and role-play to demonstrate an emphasized Adlerian approach to these interrelated topics. This is part of a 2 session class.

CE - Therapeutic Strategies: An Adlerian Approach (click here for more)

This is part of a 2 session class. Based on the psychology of Alfred Adler, our workshop will focus on the identification and application of counseling and psychotherapeutic strategies. This seminar will address questions inherent in the counseling and psychotherapeutic process, approaches to understanding lifestyle, strategies to understand the meaning and movement of the client and elements of therapeutic encouragement. This is part of a 2 session class. Part 1 takes place on October 27.

CE - Building an Understanding of Trauma & Addiction (click here for more)

11/3/2017 - 9:00am to 4:00pm CDT

With the use of Adlerian techniques and theory, attendees will learn to understand the concepts of trauma and addiction through the lens of current research and how to help move clients towards a process of healing. We will review the ACEs study, working definitions of trauma, trauma’s impact upon the brain and concepts of trauma-informed care. The afternoon component will build upon this knowledge and look at the concepts of addiction and treatment by examining how trauma and addiction are linked.

CE- Practical Adlerian Strategies for Improving Classroom and School Culture (click here for more)

11/10/2017 - 9:00am to 4:00pm CST

Participants will learn a variety of ways an Adlerian approach can improve school climate, student achievement, and overall mental health. Using strength-base approaches, participants will become trained in using the Goals of Misbehavior in a structured consultation process with parents and staff. Tools for assessing the health/toxicity of school environments will be shared.  Affirmation styled rituals for staff and students will be modeled and practiced. Techniques such as Adlerian-styled instructional approaches for diverse learners and school-based mentoring programs will be emphasized.
