Born in Wisconsin in 1954, Dan Haugen has been married for twenty-six years and has three children, ranging in age from 6 to 20. Dr. Haugen has lived in the Minneapolis area since 1980 and worked for a non-profit health care and social service organization for low-income persons since 1984, serving as President/Executive Director from 1989 until the summer of 2006.

Dr. Haugen has taught part-time since 1981 and continues to teach Ethics at AGS. He is the Academic Vice President at the Adler Graduate School which also includes his roles as Dean of Faculty and Dean of Students.

What brought you to Adlerian Psychology?
"I was in an organization where I supervised many Adler Graduate School interns. Out of those experiences, I received an invitation to teach at the school."

Strengths as an Instructor
"I am very interested in an interactive exchange of ideas with students that facilitates their unique growth objectives. I like to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies and thus, provide a learning environment that accommodates students' unique needs."

Books
In addition to his long-term association with the health care, social service and higher education fields, Dr. Haugen is also an aspiring children's author. As such, he is committed to encouraging healthy social and emotional development among children of all ages.

Community
Dr. Haugen also enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, sports and coaching, and is committed to a number of volunteer roles in the Twin Cities community.
