Dr. Roger Ballou is Director of Clinical
Licensing Programs and Adlerian Studies at the Adler Graduate
School. Roger is also a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
with a private practice in River Falls, Wisconsin, and a State
Approved Clinical Licensing Supervisor for the Minnesota Board of
Behavioral Health and Therapy (LPC, LPCC) and the Minnesota Board of
Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT).
At the Adler Graduate School, Roger teaches
Introduction to Adlerian
Psychology and Child Guidance and the
Clinical Supervisor Training
Course. In addition,
he leads many Advanced
Internship clinical supervision groups. Roger is also
faculty advisor to 50 students and supervises graduate research
papers. He is a member of numerous committees and assists the
President and Academic Vice President on various curricular and
institutional matters.
As a Minnesota State Approved Supervisor, Roger
offers post-degree supervision to mental health practitioners
working toward full State licensure (LMFT, LPC, and LPCC). He
offers individual and group supervision (Richfield and downtown St.
Paul).
Roger's research interests include couples
communication, adolescent development, parenting during the
adolescent years, recovery from chemical abuse and dependency, and
strengthening family resilience. Roger frequently leads parent
education classes and parent effectiveness training programs in the
Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
Roger maintains a private practice in River
Falls, Wisconsin, 30 miles east of St. Paul. He sees
individuals, couples, and families struggling with a wide range of
relationship issues. In addition, he is trained to address
problems related to marital difficulties, adolescence, anxiety,
depression, chemical dependency recovery, and adolescent sexual
orientation.
Roger is licensed by the Minnesota Board of
Behavioral Health and Therapy (LPCC), Minnesota Board of Marriage
and Family Therapy (LMFT), and Wisconsin Department of Regulation
and Licensing (LMFT). He is a Clinical Member of the American
Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
Roger received his B.A. from the University of
Maine, M.Ed. from the College of William and Mary in Virginia, and
Ph.D. from Purdue University in Indiana. In 2001, he completed
the Certificate of Study in Adlerian Psychology of the North
American Society of Adlerian Psychology and in 2008 was awarded the
Diplomate in Adlerian Psychology.
Roger and his wife, Joni, have one son, Graham,
who recently graduated from the University of Chicago and attends
law school at New York University.
Joni works as a Medical Lab Scientist with the Aspen Medical
Group.
